Hualien is a very huge county and a lot of nature sights can be found here. Taroko Gorge is a must-go to experience its wonders.

A peaceful town for relaxation away from the business of Taipei city. Rich in culture with a large population of the aborigines.

A great place to experience nature in Taiwan. Lack public transport, must hire a driver or guide in order to truly experience Hualien.

Overall quiet and nice town , great for relaxation and not over crowded, friendly people and lots of scenic views.

Check the weather first before arriving. We were disappointed to arrive when it was raining because we could not go to Taroko Gorge and Seven Stars Lake.

You can do a range of walks. Would certainly recommend more than 1 night. Depending on how much walking, sight seeing, biking around you want to do but there is a huge range of out door activities which you can do.

Nothing. We went to a hot spring described as being Hualien, but it was actually 65km away so we never saw Hualien

Hualien is a beautiful city but the streets tend to be narrow and without provision for non-motorized traffic.

Hualien is mainly for sightseeing, better to book driver if in groups so that able to go see more places.

Hualien is a big city. So if you want to visit all the town, you need to spend at least 3 days in there.

You must take car or bus tour to different attractions. When you go to the Hualin city centre for shopping, you may take taxi by calling or booking.

There is a need to get a private driver to travel around this city. It would save your time and enjoy to the max

Must visit the national tarogo gorges, shi ti ping and ci sing tan. Don't visit sugar factory...not worth the time there.

Hualien is a great place for nature and sightseeing, with the Taroko Gorge, Qi Xing Tan and Ruisui Hotspring within its vicinity.

Loved visiting nature spots like Qingshui Cliff, Taroko Gorge. Otherwise a very chill city where lots of delicious food can be found.

Hualian is an aera with most religious people in Taiwan. Tailu Park is quite famous and worth sightseeing.

Overall, it was a very relaxing trip to Hualien and it is thoroughly very enjoyable. Beautiful sightseeing places.

We spent 2.5 days could have stayed a week, plenty to do but need to go by shuttle bus and travel a fair bit and you can purchase a 2 day pass for NT$400 or 1 day for NT$250, the mountains and coast line are amazing.

If you love country life, you will love this city. It is totally different from many Taiwan cities that are so metropolis types.

Really boring place, unless you love sightseeing. Food at night market are really bad. We did so much research before we went, after having tasted the real food in the night market, we believed whatever was recommended on blogs, tv, etc are all just pure gimmicks.

near Taroko National Park, most convenientif you have own transport so that you can take your time.If heading on to SunMoon Lake or vice versa,note the Cross Island Highway is not for the faint-hearted.

Hualien city is basically a place to stay to visit Taroko gauge. The city itself does not offer much in the way of sightseeing, or even shopping, or dining.
