Relatively as small city but you can drive to the Golden Triangle as some nice sight-seeing and border crossing by boats to Myanmar or Laos.
Mae Sai is Thailand's most northern city on the border of Myanmar and sitting directly across from Tachilek in Myanmar.
Border city with Myanmar easy to cross border to Tachilek for one day but it cost between 200 and 700baht depent you use passport or copy (vip).
Mae sai is a beautiful little city. They love chest nuts, silver jewellery and electronics. The people are so friendly.

There is a great temple at Mae Sai Boder Pass and it is very easy to go to Myanmar boder pass. The products are not expensive and you will enjoy shopping there.
The town has a large shopping market right next to the border crossing. An interesting mix of Thai, Burmese, and Chinese goods.
This area is home to a variety of Hill Tribe groups, Lisu, Lahu, Karen, and Paduang among others. Formerly an Opium growing region, but now completely turned into a haven of coffee, tea, fruit, vegetables, flowers and plant produce.
A very quite and friendly border town. Convenient for shopping and food also easy to cross over to Myanmar border town Tachileik for shopping and sightseeing.

Mae Sai is a border trading post with Myanmar. You can get a day pass to Talichek. There are rambling markets with clothing, jewelry and souvenier artefacts.
ชอบดอยตุง สวนแม่ฟ้าหลวง และสถานที่สำคัญที่อยู่ใกล้บริเวณดอยตุง ส่วนด่านแม่สายไม่ค่อยชอบเท่าไหร่ เพราะดูแม่ค้าเน้นทางธุรกิจมากไปแล้วก็ดูไม่แตกต่างจากตลาดโบ๊เบ๊ ของกุรงเทพฯ อยากให้เชียงราย เน้นความเป็นล้านนาให้มากกว่านี้ ไม่อยากให้ความเจริญเข้ามาครอบ วัดร่องขุ่น ก็สวยงามมาก แต่ไม่ชอบที่ชาวต่างชาติบางคนไม่มีมารยาทต่อการการปฏิบัติตัวในการเข้าวัด ควรจะต้องมีการสื่อสารให้มากกว่านี้ และคนไทยก็ควรจะต้องทำตัวให้เป็นแบบอย่างที่ดี

Fortunately I saw this hotel and booked promptly because of their magnificent outlook.
Modern, clean, comfortable, spacious rooms with a tub and terrace both facing the mountains on the border with Myanmar to watch the sun go down.
