Policing is non existing when it comes to traffic, so it's a free for all, as in most of the Philippines. But the wet market, beaches, outer towns, and tours are very nice.

my mom and i would like to return to palawan, one big reason is to buy more fresh water peals.

If it weren't for the underground river cave, this town can be skipped altogether.

Hotel Centro is a nice 3 to 4 stars hotel, conveniently located in center of the town. It is very easy and cheap to get around by taking a tricycle, similar to a tuk tuk. Do not expect high competence in the staff at hotel...

Too many sand flies in Secret Paradise resort, otherwise nice place, relaxing. Port Baton was the best, we stayed at Cassandra's cottages. Puerto Princessa is where you fly - we prefer to spend time outside the city. People were super nice, friendly, honest and hard working. prices are very reasonable, food is fantastic, lots of fresh fish.

Clean and Tidy EVERYWHERE what a pleasant surprise having been to PH a few times and having just been it Boracay for a week Palawan for a nice clean and tidy Island stands heads and shoulders above. Well done to the City Mayor(s) Just sort out a reasonable Internet across the island and I am sure both your people and tourists will benefit. Some great tours to go on Honda bay and the Underground River……. NB the later is a 6 hour drive to El Nido to see. Think El Nido is more of a fun place to stay that PP.

Do island hopping tour. If you have time and money go also to Coron.

I would go back and tell others to go as well.

There is a lot of travel required to see most parts of it but it is worth it. The people are very friendly and helpful. I would definitley go back.

It was one of the best places I have been in the world. Price was OK too lots to do. I recommend the Island hopping it was a great day and reasonable price as well. I loved it there and wpuld go back in a flash.

But I enjoyed staying 3 days in relaxed Port Barton and enjoyed island hopping from there.

No need to second guess, or haggle. most are certified by the government.

This is limited only to young and poeple in perfect conditions. Not comfortable tours. Amazing places to see, it is a pity the way it is organized.

The people are poor but as friendly and helpful as you will find anywhere in the Philippines, a real boon after the hassling for tips in Manila. The natural scenery is spectacular but you have to accept that the lifestyle will be more basic unless you stop in one of the 5-star resorts. Organised tours to Honda Bay and El Nido are well worth doing, and the crocodile farm/nature park makes an interesting visit- take the jeepney to Iriwan

Our trip was not as relaxing as I would have have expected for I keep on it from our Bohol trip. In Palawan you'd always have to pay extra to get more from what is standard, also their packages rates are not standard. Let me cite examples. The Honda Bay tour costs P1500/per person and would visit three islands. I was told that after that we could have seen more if we bribed the boatman of additional money to take us out other islands. But on the trip itself we were told that the other islands are private property and cannot be visited. Also, during the underground river tour we waited for the boatman to show us the manatee remains but was again told after the tour that if we could have paid P100/ea additional and bribed the boatman he could have paddled an additional 1km more that the Standard tour and showed us the remains. I experienced this in the hotel and with the tricycle drivers as well taking advantage of tourists and travelers. It's just frustrating everytime. I don't think this place needs a second visit. If you can only tour one place go to Bohol instead where people are friendly and are not always expecting for tips or additional payment if they do something for you out of the ordinary. I've been to Bohol several times because of the warmth of the Boholanos. They could sure teach Palawan people a lot about Tourism.

1:15 by air southwest of Manila. Puerto Princesa and El Nido are towns on the island; PP the larger & provincial capital, El Nido much much smaller and fairly remote but a great jumping off point for dive tours, island & lagoon day tours, etc. Things like electricity, telephone, paved roads, and other modern conveniences can be expensive to unavailable on some large parts of the island. Some very fine resort accommodations are available in various locations around Palawan, but expect to pay top-tier prices, even in the low season. Most will fly into PP, although there are other airports on the island (most privately owned I believe - I know the one at EN is). Backpackers, divers, those who want to avoid the overdeveloped tourist destinations, and the wealthy will find much to like about Palawan.

Rates should be charges as locals would pay. Overall, it was a nice experience.

Planning facilities are found in the capital city, Puerto Princesa. This city is developing very fast and covers a large area. There are some modern malls dotted among the smaller, often traditional local buildings. El Nido town and sightseeing area is six hours to the North by minibus on an often winding concrete road, most of the way. In Oct 2013, the last quarter is on sometimes bumpy and muddy gravel roads. Driving is scary! The scenery is beautiful and interesting for plant and simple cultural interest, if you are comfortable. The en route restaurants may cause stomach problems. (Sensible holiday precaution: Health insurance recommended for possible tropical diseases and accidents). El Nido town has a few interesting, European/international style restaurants and a number of beach-front restaurant/bars. Everything, including bottled water, is expensive in the holiday areas because of the lack of development and so remoteness. Recommended for spectacular adventure!

The mini van/bus ride from Puerto Princessa to El Nido takes around 5 to 6 hours, but it certainly worth it. Great beaches and lots of sightseeing. Rent a motorbike from one of the shops and go out of town to visit more great beaches and the waterfalls or get a glimpse of the life of the locals on the outskirts of town.

People are fairly honest to the tourists. Beaches are wonderful too.
