Just booked
Traveler impressions of Sukhothai
Great place to step back in time and history. The ancient city is amazing and well worth the trip.Amazing place to take pictures and walk around, very peaceful.
Opposite the main gate to the historical park, on the corner, there is a great little cafe. Doesnt look like much but worth a stop in.
At least when you arrive Sukothai you have to visit historical park. If you are a culture or history lover you can extend your stay to visit Srisachnalai distric.
I did not visit Old Sukothia town centre, but he new town is very pleasant, friendly, and not congested.
The new city was not very impressive until we went on a bike tour of the countryside. The tour was great! We saw rice patties, sweet little villages, frog farms, the river, beautiful shrines and temples, mushroom farms etc.
Good to visit for historical reasons, i.e., sightseeing and learning about Thai history. Town is difficult to get around unless one has one' sown mean of transport!
The main reason to go is the historical park and surrounding historical areas. All of the restaurants serve pretty much the same things but the menu encompasses a lot of different kinds of food and the food quality was excellent wherever we ate.
- Watching sunrise at Wat Saphan Hin is a must. - though you may finish the sightseeing at main Wats in 2 days, I would recommend stay longer as to visit the historical park at least twice, once in morning and another in evening.
A small city with typically basic Thai small food mall eating. No nightlife other than a bar/restaurant with live music.
The city is a good deal of fun... even outside the 'Old Town'. There are too many things that you can do to list herein, but explore it all and enjoy!
สุโขทัยยังคงมีความเป็นไทยค่อนข้างมากกว่าหลายที่ และมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงความเป็นอยู่ของผู้คนน้อย แหล่งเริงรมย์เข้าถึงน้อย
I booked to stay in Sukhothai new town as I read that there wasn't much happening in the old town at night, well there isn't much happening in the new town either.
Iy you love the Buddha or Buddism this is the place to be, take your time Specially during sunrise en sunset
Just one year, cannot wait to be back..I spent 5 days for my 2nd trip to Sukhothai, very nice and I would return for sure.
It's a very local, average mid-sized city that does not depend of tourists for its livelihood. There are few restaurants and large hotels; mostly there are guest houses.
In my opinion Sukhotai is a bit more interesting than Ayuthaya. If you want to save your money visiting it's historical park, go there before dawn of after dusk.
Sukhothai, a long history cultural city. Having a great Bhuddha figure is located in the middle of old city.
Its very hot in the afternoon so best to tour the heritage site in the morning and be back in your rooom in the afternoon.
I mainly stayed in old city which is surrounded by temples. It is so tranquil and not many cars and peoples.
Peaceful village. Great to visit the historical park of the old city, see the ruins. Lovely to walk around or as there is a large area to cover can hire bicycles from the many places close to the ruins.
We loved the old city and would recommend that you rent bikes if possible and tour the ruins. Better to stay near the old city instead of the new.
the new Sukhothai city is charmless you are best to saty in old Sukhothai close to the historical park
need to have transport in order to access all the sites and probably best to have a thai speaking guide.
Main city itself is very quiet and quaint, key attractions are the historical park and the areas surrounding it
Sukhothai city itself is a bit of a distance from the Old City of Sukhothai where the Historical Park is located.
The great time to visit Sukhothai is in November when its Loy kratong festival! You can see the beautiful decoration and shows at Historic Park.
OLD TOWN, WHERE HISTORIC PARK IS SITUATED IS SUPER. NEW TOWN NOT VERY INTERESTING & MUCH LIKE MOST OTHER UP-COUNTRY TOWNS IN THAILAND
Only visit Sukhotai for the Old City Ruins, which you can cover in a day. There isnt much else to do in the city.
Whoever wishes to visit Sukhothai must be mentally prepared that it is not a Pattaya or Phuket. What you are going to face is the deep history of Thailand in their best.
This is a historical site where the buildings share similarity with Ayudhaya. But I prefer this place as it's smaller and easier to go around.
