"I spent 2 nights at the Chefle hotel. For the money, it is maybe the best value that I have gotten at a hotel. The rooms were clean and well designed. Nothing to write home about, but everything was well done. The hotel architecture is both beautiful and unique. In terms of location, it is in a quiet neighborhood along a river canal. It is not close to the best attractions in Hangzhou, but the best attractions are all out of town anyway. The hotel was great about arranging taxi's for us and the taxi's themselves are quite cheap. I would (and will) definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Hangzhou."

"Vienna International hotel is conveniently located near the Hangzhou East Train Station, where the city metro (mrt) is located. When we reached the train station, it took us about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the hotel after asking for direction from the info counter. Can't help comparing the direction given by the info counter given here and that at Japan, here the direction was hurriedly and verbally given while that in Japan was patiently given with a smile as well as a hand-drawn map. We were very pleased with the service rendered by the hotel reception. We arrived before the 2pm check in time and wanted to leave our bags at their storeroom, but we were allowed to check in early. That was a delighted surprise ! We were also very happy with the large room that had musical theme pictures on its walls. Different charging cables for mobile phones were available in the room. The toilet equipped with a hair dryer and toiletries was big. Will stay at this hotel again in future."

"The hotel is located outside the overseas-tourist area, but reasonably close to West Lake if that’s your principal destination in Hangzhou; with a little extra effort to achieve the Grand Canal. None is a problem. The rooms are quite small, but, if its an issue, very clean and sufficiently equipped. But you do get what you pay for; and you pay for - a room. Nothing else. The girls on Reception try very hard to resolve your questions and usually we got there in the end. During my week the wifi was quite fast and always on-line. There are a number of local eateries around. My final comment is that this is a pleasant little place if, like myself, you seek to be in the ‘ordinary’ China, where the folk around you are getting on with their daily lives; and you can learn from just being there. If more is required ............. "

"We are a group of 2 students from singapore who arrived late in hangzhou. So we booked this hotel near the airport. They provide free shuttle from the airport to the hotel but it only runs in 30min intervals so we had to wait quite awhile in the cold van. check in was smooth and the room was warm and clean. Paid 18yuan for the simple buffet breakfast. Overall really fuss free."

"i had a brief ttip to Hangzhou, and if i'd had any idea, i would have stayed 5+ days. Considering i only use a hotel for safe sleeping, the Sofitel fit the bill. It is a little bit dated and could use some freshening up. But i am not there to chill in a hotel room. The room is comfortably sized and the beds are large and comfy too. A nice bathroom as well. Only "complaint" is that there was a view only into the building across- very close. so drapes had to be closed at all times. Additionally, the windows don't seem to seal well, or there is a duct issue. I am not sure which but i awoke each morning to pungent cigarette smoke smell in the room that made me actually check to see if the windows were open. The staff is really helpful. especially the lovely lady in the business centre who helped us arranged train tickets for our next 2 destinations. She could not have been more helpful. the cocktail lounge in the lobby serves pretty nice drinks at a good price. it is a shame it closes relatively early. but it seems the way in China. The hotel is across from the lake and is a perfect location for accessibility to all the things around the WestLake area that you can get to on foot. "
