District of Columbia hotels & places to stay

I live in the city and booked this hotel at the last minute due to renovations at my apartment. Initially, I only reserved it for the price, but I was surprised to find that the hotel was only a few blocks from the White House and it was in such a nice location! Upon check in, I spoke to the front desk representatives Alain and Simon Attaghba. They were so sweet and accommodating! When I told them that I was going through renovations at my apartment and was only going to stay a day (and was very tired), they made sure to make my day count by upgrading my room with a panoramic view! I even heard them speak to another customer and list all of the attractions in the local area that I didn't even know existed! And I've been in the area for years! There are so many restaurants and attractions within walking distance that I made sure to take advantage and became a tourist that evening! Alain and Simon were even sweet enough to follow up with me to make sure I enjoyed my room.

I've stayed in this hotel previously, while attending a business convention. The room price was HALF of the convention rate, so the hotel was affordable. The valet parking is convenient, but too expensive. Free wifi is a must a hotel specializing in convention business. Not JUST in the lobby. A three-block walk to the Metro can get one anywhere within the hour. Very convenient! When we checked in, we immediately went to our room. The sliding door to the bathroom would not close. We notified the bell staff as he brought in our luggage. He immediately called maintenance and he had the door repaired within 20 minutes. Our expectation was to have the repairs made while we would be out of the room during the next day. Needless to say, our stay started in a very impressive way!

We stayed here in part because it was one of the best priced mid range hotels we would find at the last minute (we booked same day) and were really happy we did. Reasons it gets good ratings from me: - interesting architecture of past era - excellent customer service, greetings, concierge, etc. - terrific pool (17 meters), can do laps but also set up so families and friends can enjoy goofing around - whirlpool which was a great temperature with interesting over the head water jets - nice gym- usual cardio equipment including a rowing machine, free weights, bands, jump rope, roller, etc. - bottled water everywhere (when you walk in and out of the place, spa area, so on) - complimentary hotel car that can take you short distances - complimentary NYT and WSJ (not sure if this was a fluke but we came across both on our floor) -only downside-- major shortage of hooks/bars in bathroom (all hotels have this problems now it seems) and no drawers (also a new trend we have noticed)

The hotel is on its own block, so it's very hard to find parking. The valet parking is $44/night... Pretty expensive if you ask me. The room i booked said it had a kitchenette in it, however, when we got in the room, there wasn't even a mini fridge. Since we brought food and things that needed to be cooked it refrigerated, we needed that. We were able to upgrade our room for $30 to get that kitchenette and that was very nice the bed was comfortable and everything seemed very clean. The only annoyance was a tapping sound in the walls of the pipes (I'm guessing) and the random angry driver honking at 3am. But hey, it's DC... You gotta expect the loud nature of the city. It was still a very nice trip and was in the middle of everything. I really enjoyed it!

I found The Wink by doing a random search for hotels in DC. The price was incredible. The fact that I was able to bring my dog, for free, was amazing. All of the hotel staff I came in contact with were courteous and helpful. The hotel was clean, stylish, and had the best water pressure I have ever had in a shower or sink, including my own house. The location was close to Georgetown, the main sites of DC and a very nice off leash dog park, which my dog enjoyed imensely. There was a wonderful Indian restaurant directly across from the hotel.

You will be charged a $23.00 per day fee for amenities we did not use except four bottles of water. We were even charged the day we left by noon time. Caution, to receive the $10.00 meal credit you MUST charge to room or they will not honor it. I paid cash twice and was not given the $20. 00 credit! I was never told it a $10.00 meal credit PER DAY or I would have charged all three of my hotel meals!! These fees are ridiculous and should I visit again will look for a hotel that does not charge you for amenities you do not utilize! Also check your invoice before checking out because they tried to charge me a laundry fee which was not mine.

Overall, a good experience. I do think the hotel is missing a vital component: a business center. UPS has an arrangement with the hotel, but you'll be looking at a $10 minimum to get on a computer. You can walk up the street to the neighboring hotel and hop on for nothing. Also, in the heat of the summer, offering water would be nice; I was referred to the gift shop when I asked. Tap water started to look like a better deal.

The Georgetown inn is in a great location, right in the heart of Georgetown, walking distance to all the great restaurants, the harbour/boat rides and funky little shops. The rooms are stylish and offer extra amenities such as complimentary, oh-so-soft robes and big umbrellas (but don't try to take them with you when you leave or you will find a $75 charge on your bill.) I loved the location so much that iI gave up one of my major requirements in a hotel, a swimming pool and made due with lots of showers to combat the ninety temperature in July. The concierge was helpful and informative but be careful in the restaurant, some of the prices on the menu are less than were on my actual bill, "They are old menus" the waiter said when I complained. It's a little thing but it made a bad impression and i wouldn't eat there again; why would I when there are so many other choices? If you want to experience Georgetown, I would recommend The Georgetown Inn

Beautiful property steps from McPherson Sq Metro. Elegantly restored with a "classic" luxury hotel look and feel. Examples of service issues: when checking in, was told I had to wait in the lobby (about 20 mins) for the agoda.com reservation to appear in their system. Courtesy shoeshine (nice touch) available, but they did not pick up shoes. Room phone unplugged; had to fish under bed to reconnect cord. Had to keep holding handle down to flush toilet. There is an additional daily "facility charge" whose benefits were never provided at check-in (learned on check-out: 25% discount at adjacent Starbucks, bottle of water, use of fitness center.) With proper leadership, this place could be my favorite DC hotel; hoping this review gets to the right people.

It was a beautiful hotel, neat union Station, has a supermarket beside it, easy access, metro behind, best of all William, the excellent staff in the checkin counter is absolutely friendly and accomodating. He checked us in at 2AM in the morning like it was daylight, with absolute brightness and cheer. The Hotel is spot on in cleanliness and plus more. I would stay here again defo!

My husband and I stayed here for 7 day during the 4th of july week , the place is amazing close to everything 2 blocks from the White House and the circulator bus stop is just across the street. This hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly. When I book this hotel it says no breakfast unless you paid extra but when we check in I ask the the lady if it comes with breakfast and she said yes and she gave me a 7 days breakfast buffet voucher which cost $25 /person. The breakfast is great plenty of food but exactly the same every day . This hotel made our Washington DC trip perfect and I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

We had a room for three, with plenty of space, but having stayed previously as a couple I expected the larger room with the lounge area. Wasn’t a problem though as we were only there for one night. There was no bottled water (as previously) and it took us one cold shower to realise that the switch on the bathroom wall made the water hot as well as giving full power to the lights. It might be an idea to advise of this somewhere! We were also woken by a 6:15 alarm call we didn’t request! Hope whoever it was for wasn’t late for a flight! The staff were efficient but not overly friendly, the gentleman on my first visit last week was wonderful - he even called the room to make sure everything was ok. Beautiful hotel, and they made parking easy as I’d had trouble finding a garage. Would recommend.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights with a friend and we booked separate king rooms which were both massive. We’d just come from NYC so was nice to have more space and for a really good price. Staff were very friendly and offered to change my room straight away when I had a problem with my door. Cocktail hour is also great with delicious cocktails and snacks on offer. Location was good and it didn’t take us long to walk down to the Whitehouse, George Washington Memorial etc and all the museums. Also a short walk to some casual eateries if you fancy something light. Would recommend this hotel to others.

Cannot fault the attention to detail, and great warmth of welcome during our stay at the Park Hyatt. We felt very much at home in the hotel and loved being in walking distance to George Town as well as bigger excursions to all the sights such as the White House. It is such an easy City to walk around and we also very much appreciated being in the quieter part of the City during the night as it is a 24hour City.

Great location, all the main attractions are within walking distance. The Washington area felt very safe with lots of security. The hotel room was large with dressing room off the bathroom and kitchenette area. Tea and coffee available at reception 24/7 and lovely free breakfast. The only thing I was not aware of was the £24 compulsory nightly service charge which is paid separately to the hotel to cover the amenities such as WiFi, gym, tea and coffee. These items are usually included in the cost for this standard of hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel

When we drove up to the hotel, I figured it was the same as any other, having a place to park, whether it was a garage or a simple lot. Unfortunately, after driving around the block 3 times, we had no choice but to use the Valet parking & as it turns out, they do have parking but it was within a Residential Parking Garage, which we NEVER would have found. Any other parking facility was about 3-6 blocks from the hotel and prices varied. Other than that, no real complaints except the elevators were a little small. The rooms were big & well equipped, the breakfast in the mornings had sausage & bacon (YES!!!) and the staff were excellent! Will definitely stay here again as soon as I'm about to get back.

booked a conference room suite, aside from a big conference table, there was nothing to support any conference: no projector , no writing pads, no pens, conference table sits 12 , but only 2 drinking glasses. lights were dim. Breakfast finished right on time, supposed to be able to order your eggs cooked in the style you like, but queue was so long that i did not get to try it. Might as well put different style of omelette on the tray. suppose to have free wi-fi at the hotel lobby. no one seems to be able to connect to it.

This was our second stay at Cambria Suites. We really like the hotel and the location is close to where our son lives. However this time we were somehwat disappointed that when we booked nor when we checked in, no one informed us of the LOUD construction that was occurring across the street starting at daylight.... Needless to say, we were awakened way earlier than we wanted to be and would have appreciated a head's up!!

Location was perfect for sightseeing around DC without needing a car or even riding the metro much. We walked back to the hotel late each night without ever feeling unsafe. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Room was clean and had plenty of space. Only downside was the frequent sirens and noise outside the hotel, but that would be the case with any hotel in the city.
